MozTour@Leyte Day01 - 02 AUG 2012

Leyte is one of the seven thousand one hundred seven islands (7,107) in the Philippines; it's geographically located at the eastern part of Visayas region and composed of two provinces, namely Leyte (Northern Leyte) and Southern Leyte.

MozTour@Leyte is divided by two major events, first is the MozTour@VSU, Visayas State University, at VISCA Baybay Leyte and the second which is the MozTour@SLSU, Southern Leyte State University, Sogod Southern Leyte.

Day 01 – 02 AUG 2012: MozTour@VSU

Together with my fellow Mozilla Rep (ReMo) we touch down at Daniel Z. Romualdez Airport in Tacloban City at around 7:00AM. Our team is composed of Community Manager Eusebio “Jun” Barrun Jr., Lead-Localization Robert “Bob” Reyes, Lead-Student Reps Kemuel Joseph Domanog his sister Joyce Domanog Mozilla Phl Volunteer and yours truly Melchor “Chor” Compendio ReMo.
From the airport, we took a jeepney ride to Van-Van Tours terminal at Tacloban City, the van will take us to Baybay City for about 3hrs or about 107km with partly zig-zag mountain side road trip.

Our first stop is in Baybay Leyte to have a lunch at Andok’s. After a couple of minutes we took a multicab (smaller jeepney) going to Visayas State University.
The audience are much excited than we are, it is unexpected to have more than 200 participants including the students, faculties, school staff and provincial government representative (roughly 100 participants signed up to Eventbrite and Facebook event page).

The program is started with a prayer lead by a student and followed by our National anthem.

The last speaker is Kemuel Joseph Domanog for the Student Reps program. Kemuel also shares his experience why and how he is joining the Mozilla Representative, ReMO. I also gave a short talk as an organizer of this event; I thank all the people behind this event to make it successful. The faculty and school staffs are also thankful that we select VSU to visit despite of how far we've travel to get on their place.
In this way I can assure that the people in VSU felt that they are important to us, as it is. This is our mission to spread the Mozilla’s mission and to reach out even in rural areas like in Leyte.
